A Give Away a Day - Day One
Last week I promissed a competition over the weekend. Unfortunately I went away at short notice and couldn't keeep my promise - so instead I've decided to offer a prize every day from today until Sunday, so that's five chances to win instead of one, hooray!Today, to celebrate the launch of my 2012 'Ancient Places' calendar, I have one copy up for grabs tonight!

The calendar celebrates the last 18 months of my travels visiting and painting the stone circles, standing stones and other prehistoric remains of the UK, and features 15 glossy full colour images showing a selection of sites in Wiltshire, Argyll, Aberdeenshire, Orkney, Mull, and the Highlands.
It costs £12 including UK postage (worldwide shipping available - £14 for EU, and £16 Rest of World), via my website, and is available for immediate shipping.
To win your copy, leave a comment on this blog telling me your favourite megalithic site and why. Please feel free to pass on a link to this blog post (via Facebook, Twitter, email, etc) to anyone else you know who might like to win... Make sure you leave me some way to get in contact with you if you are lucky enough to win - an email address or a blog I can contact you through. Good luck!

I have a passion for Long Meg in Cumbria. The isolatedness is what does it for me, driving through country roads to come upon this witchy circle

I can comment now! Shall paste my Facebook post...
I love Beinn a'Charra in North Uist, not because it is particularly dramatic but because I love the story. In local folklore this standing stone on top of a hill is said to have landed there when a woman from a neighbouring island picked it up and threw it in a strop!
I didn't know you had a blog Nicki, lovely work.. as ever ;)
My favourite is the Twelve Apostles on Ilkley Moor, just because it's my local site and it's "mine" lol.
They are only small but I like the nine ladies near Matlock as it always reminds me of walking the dog with my grandad
I love the standing Stones at Carnac, I visited as a child and remember running through the rows of stones playing hide and seek with my parents. Now I'm slightly more grown up I have to say that over a mile of stones is just a breath taking sight, thousands of stones in alignment and the Dolmens or tombs in this area Is just beyond belief. Honestly it has you questioning who is more advanced.
My calendar arrived this morning Nicki, I couldn't wait to open it. Its beautiful - I see your lovely impressionistic interpretation of Silbury has been included.
I'm very pleased indeed.
Just randomly picked the winner of the give away and.... Justanordinaryweirdo you have won! Please drop me a line to let mw know your address and I'll post your calendar out ASAP! :-D
June I'm SO pleased you like - thanks for much for purchasing and letting me know you're pleased! :-D
Mary that really is a top bit of folk lore isn't it?!! Better than dancers turned to stone any day!! It's on my list to visit...
Thanks Chris! :-D
Moll I've not had the pleasure of Carnac yet, but it's high on the list. I'm excited by just photo's, I can't possibly imagine what the reality will be like...
The place that touched me most is Stonehenge, many years ago my ex-husband and I went there; Im sure I felt strength flowing out from the stones. I managed to touch the corner stone, and, I dont know, but felt more powerful within myself after. That is something Id forgotten about till now, and a strength I must remember!!
